A Platte County Fair breakfast for business and industry representatives July 12 will include a look at the status of a construction of a $280 million chicken processing plant underway in Fremont and its impact for local farm operators.

Lincoln Premium Poultry’s Willow Holoubek will track the project’s progress and describe the opportunities available to local farmers to raise chickens for the company.

The fair’s annual Businesspersons’ Breakfast, put on by the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce’s Agribusiness Committee and the Platte County Ag Society, is free and set for 7 a.m.

“I think the project has generated excitement in the region and opportunities for growers and farmers to diversify their operations,” said Jessica Kolterman, an external affairs spokeswoman for the poultry processor.
